North: black ice causing pileups on the - motorway

On Saturday January 11 in the morning, several pileups took place on the A25, between Lille and Dunkirk. Traffic was cut off in both directions and was able to gradually resume at the end of the morning.

Two pileups occurred early in the North, Saturday January 11, involving two heavy goods vehicles and three cars. The road, completely icy, was transformed into an ice rink. All morning, traffic on the A25 was cut in both directions between Lille and Dunkirk. At the request of the authorities, motorists had to exit and even turn around on the highway to take the small departmental roads which were in the same state. A motorist lost control of his vehicle: “I had to get help from people who pulled my car to avoid getting stuck in the road.”

Others were less lucky and ended up in the ditch. Motorists must be patient and truck drivers are stuck, even when equipped with snow tires. “I have snow tires but since I don’t have any merchandise, unfortunately I can’t join”explains one of them. Traffic has gradually resumed since the end of the morning.
