Morocco has established itself as Spain’s leading supplier of fruits and vegetables, according to statistics published by the Spanish Federation of Fruit and Vegetable Producers and Exporters (FEPEX) covering the period January-October 2024.

The Iberian country, in fact, imported nearly 20% of its fruit and vegetable needs from Morocco during the first ten months of last year, for a value of 801 million euros. These Moroccan shipments increased by 13% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Morocco is thus clearly ahead of its competitors. Spain’s second supplier is Peru, which exported there for a value of 501 million euros (+22%).

Then come , in third position, with 426 million euros (+22%), Portugal (350 million euros, +19%), the Netherlands (205 million euros, +3%) , according to the latest data from the Spanish Department of Customs and Special Taxes, processed by FEPEX.

These data also demonstrate that the value of total Spanish imports of fruit and vegetables between January and October 2024 amounted to 4.08 billion euros, an increase of 12%. Nearly two thirds (66%) of these imports come from non-EU countries.
