England have asked Senegal to play a friendly match on June 10 in Nottingham. This proposal was made by the English Association, which hopes to see the Senegalese team, ranked 17th in the world, face the Three Lions at the City Ground. This 30,600-seat stadium, where Nottingham Forest plays, would host this match in the town of West Bridgford.

The response from the president of the Senegalese Federation, Augustin Senghor, is awaited. If positive, it would be the second meeting between the two teams, the first having taken place during the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where England won 3-0.

This match would close the English season, followed by a trip to Andorra for 2026 World Cup qualifying. England have already played only once in Nottingham in 1909 against Wales.

Many Senegalese players have played in England, like Sadio Mané or Idrissa Guèye, and some still play there, like Nicolas Jackson or Seny Dieng. A match against England would have particular resonance for these players.

Besides England, other European teams have expressed interest in hosting Senegal. Éire has therefore proposed a match in Dublin on June 6 or 7, 2025. Until now, this meeting has never taken place between the two nations.

This information was shared by Le Quotidien, in partnership with Afrik-foot, which initially reported English interest in this friendly match.
