Here’s how Justin Trudeau’s successor will be chosen

    • The word

      9 mars

This is the date on which the person who will lead the Liberal Party of Canada (PLC) and who will occupy the position of Prime Minister to succeed Justin Trudeau will be designated. Interested parties have until January 23 to submit their application.

    • 350 000 $

These are the registration fees for candidates. This is the highest amount ever demanded for a leadership race. The objective of this sum is to discourage less serious applications. Furthermore, as the PLC has abolished its membership card system, the party has put in place safeguards to regulate the vote and avoid potential interference.

    • The conditions for being able to vote:

      • Be a Canadian citizen, have Indian status under the Indian Act or be a permanent resident of Canada.
      • Be 14 years or older.
      • Not be a member of another federal party.
      • The deadline to register with the PLC and have the right to vote in the choice of leader is January 27.
    • Some questions still remain unanswered:

      • What will be the eligibility rules for candidates?
      • What will the registration procedures for candidates consist of?
      • How many debates will there be and what will their format be?
      • What will be the voting and counting procedure?
    • Trudeau will remain neutral
