A major donation of modern equipment intended to strengthen the surveillance and security capabilities of national borders was offered to the national gendarmerie of Senegal by the United States. With a total value of more than 750,000 US dollars (or more than 450 million CFA francs), this lot includes night vision goggles, GPS devices, helmets, ballistic shields, as well as essential medical equipment, inform our colleagues at Pressafrik.

According to the source, this donation is part of a four-year cooperation program between the two nations, aimed at improving the capabilities of Senegalese security forces to detect and counter threats. “The objective of this initiative is also to effectively combat illicit trafficking, such as drugs, weapons and human trafficking. Through joint training initiatives and resource sharing, this partnership helps strengthen security both nationally and regionally, while consolidating ties between the United States and Senegal.”

The handover ceremony took place at the Thiès Regional Tactical Training Center on January 7, 2025, in the presence of representatives from both countries.
