With a total value of more than 750,000 US dollars (or more than 450 million CFA francs), this equipment constitutes a major contribution to strengthening the operational resources of the Gendarmerie.
The handover ceremony was held at the Regional Tactical Training Center in Thiès, in the presence of representatives from both countries. This event demonstrates continued U.S. support for Senegal’s efforts to ensure the security of its citizens and its borders.
This donation is part of a four-year cooperation program between the two nations, aimed at improving the capabilities of Senegalese security forces to detect and counter threats. The objective is also to fight effectively against illicit trafficking, whether in drugs, weapons or human beings. Through joint training initiatives and resource sharing, this partnership helps strengthen national and regional security, while consolidating ties between the United States and Senegal.
During his speech, the United States Ambassador to Senegal, Michael Raynor, said:
“The United States is honored to support Senegal’s efforts to protect its borders. By providing modern, high-quality equipment, we strengthen the operational capabilities of the National Gendarmerie. This ongoing partnership illustrates our unwavering commitment to the security and well-being of the Senegalese people. »
