Matty Naeyaert-Raynal, 19, is Lanesterian. He won the election for Mister France Bretagne last October and will compete for the national title on January 25 in Rueil-Malmaison, near Paris.
Important preparation
“I’ve lived in Lanester my whole life. I did my schooling at Notre-Dame Auxiliatrice school then at Notre-Dame du Pont college. Currently, I am taking a vocational baccalaureate at the Saint-Joseph-La Salle high school, in Lorient. I’m in my final year,” says Matty.
He won the regional title on October 3, 2024, in Evran, against seven other candidates. He owes this victory to his presentation speech and his four choreographies, two of which were scored, in a sailor t-shirt and in street clothes.
To gain confidence and put all the chances on his side, Matty is accompanied by a sports coach, Tony Philippe, and a vocal coach also from Lanester, Élodie Auffred. “The objective is for Matty to be able to learn the basics of posture, how the voice works, mental preparation, to identify his limits, his blockages and for him to live this adventure as best as possible,” explains Élodie Auffred.
Matty does body exercises, works on his speech and in particular the cause he defends, “the academic harassment of which I was the victim in middle school. I know what I’m talking about and I joined the Jeunesse France harassment foundation,” he says.
On January 18, Matty will leave Lanester for Paris where a week of preparation for the competition awaits him, along with 30 other candidates. The Mister France committee has set up a vote on the internet, Matty is number 5 (www.mister-france.com).
