The victim was on 3e rang , on the side of the road, when he was hit head-on by a vehicle traveling south, around 8:15 p.m.

Rushed to a hospital to treat serious injuries, the young man finally breathed his last a few hours later. For his part, the driver escaped unhurt.

The road was closed until 1 a.m. Wednesday to allow a collision investigator to process the scene.

“At first glance, it appears to be an accident. There would be no criminal causes,” mentions Béatrice Dorsainville, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

This is the second similar tragedy to occur in a few hours in the greater Quebec region. Around noon, an octogenarian succumbed to his injuries after being hit by a car on Chemin Sainte-Foy, in Quebec.

At least six pedestrians have died after being struck by vehicles in the greater Quebec region since last October.
