Intervening during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday after being alerted by neighbors, the police initially heard a woman's screams, which were interrupted while they were waiting for equipment to enter the apartment, explained the parquet. According to the same source, a man “ended up quickly opening the door by throwing himself at them armed with two knives”before being subdued by the police, who then noted the presence of the woman, dead, in the bathroom.
Two children, aged 7 and 4 years old, were “sheltered in a suitable place”. The accused is 29 years old and had been convicted three times, notably for violence by his ancestor. In 2023, 96 women were victims of marital femicide in France, a figure down 19% compared to 2022, according to a report from the Ministry of the Interior published in November.
