Spain strengthens border surveillance with a country – La Nouvelle Tribune

Irregular migration represents a major challenge for many States seeking to provide effective responses. Faced with this problem, some countries are opting for significant investments and establishing strategic partnerships with the nations of origin of migrants. It is with this in mind that Madrid is strengthening its logistical support to the Shereef Kingdom to optimize the surveillance of its borders.

The Spanish cabinet has just approved substantial aid from 2.5 million euros to modernize the equipment of Moroccan law enforcement. This allocation provides for the acquisition of a fleet of 183 motosvalued at 660 000 eurosspecially designed for interventions in inaccessible areas. The device also includes 33 buggy-type all-terrain vehiclesrepresenting an investment of 1.9 million eurosintended to facilitate travel in desert and rugged regions.

This initiative is part of a broader approach led by the International and Iberoamerican Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP)under the direction of the head of Spanish diplomacy, José Manuel Albares. The project aims to improve the integrated management of Moroccan borders while adopting an approach respectful of human rights, consistent with the Moroccan National Immigration and Asylum Strategy (SNIA).

The new equipment, delivery of which is scheduled within nine months to the port of Tangier Medwill be accompanied by a technical training program. This specialized training will guarantee appropriate maintenance and optimal use of the equipment over the long term, thus ensuring the sustainability of the investment.
