Drama in Tocane-Sainte-Apre (Dordogne), this Saturday January 4. Around 10:30 p.m., a fire broke out in a barn located at a place called Grange Neuve. The latter caused the loss of 19 sheep, trapped in the burning building.

However, three sheep were able to be saved and evacuated safely, thanks to the rapid intervention of firefighters from Ribérac and Saint-Astier, reports The Independent Democrat. The operation mobilized nearly twenty firefighters.

Despite the use of three fire hoses, emergency services were unable to save this old building. This Sunday morning, there was nothing left of the frame, completely charred. Only the four stone walls remain standing. The house located near the barn was not damaged.

“I lost everything”

The owner of this herd, a young man of 19, is dejected: “I was going to sign the last papers this week. I lost everything, I’m disgusted, it hurts my heart,” laments Sébastien Lacour to our colleagues at Bleu. Next to him, his father does not hide his bitterness: “This building has been in the family for generations, it’s really sad. My son was going to take the plunge too. »

Given the damage, the young man does not yet know if he will continue on this path: “I do not yet know if I will start again, when I see that, it makes me want to give up. » An investigation was opened and samples were taken this Sunday to determine the exact circumstances of this fire.
