The first edition of the year of the National Day “SETAL SUNU REW” is organized by the Ministry of Armed Forces. This 8th edition of citizen mobilization is being held this Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Yeumbeul Comico, in the department of Keur Massar, under the presidency of His Excellency Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, Head of State and Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces.
Placed under the theme “SETAL SA GOX, AAR SA YARAM: ALONGSIDE THE CITIZENS, THE ARMED FORCES ENGAGE”, this initiative aims to bring together the Armed Forces, the Defense and Security Forces, as well as citizens, for a collective effort to preserve the environment and promote public health.
Across the country, soldiers and police, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Social Action, the Ministry of Urban Planning and local authorities, will join forces to make this day a model of success.
This edition innovates with the sponsorship of local “SETAL SUNU GOX” committees by military camps and gendarmerie barracks, thus strengthening the ownership of this initiative by local populations.
In addition to cleaning activities, particularly around hospitals, free medical consultations and blood drives will be organized in all regions. These actions aim to strengthen the link between public health and a healthy living environment.
General Birame Diop, Minister of the Armed Forces, accompanied by the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces and the High Commander of the National Gendarmerie, launched an appeal to all citizens.
He invited everyone to join the efforts of the Armed Forces to achieve the objectives of this day, symbolizing a collective desire to protect the environment, health and well-being of the Senegalese.
For General Birame Diop, the National “SETAL SUNU REW” Day must be a flagship event at the start of 2025, embodying the commitment of the Armed Forces alongside the populations to build a cleaner and healthier Senegal.
