On January 7, 2015, the Islamist attack by the Kouachi brothers hit “Charlie Hebdo”, killing twelve people, including eight members of the editorial staff of the satirical weekly, a target of jihadist threats since the publication of caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed in 2006. Ten years later, the newspaper released a special 32-page issue, and a plethora of tributes, exceptional programs and books are planned in the coming days to commemorate this event which will have marked society. 2, in particular, has put in place a whole system to remember this indelible date.

From 6:30 a.m. and when Julien Arnaud and Flavie Flamant go on air in “Télématin”, the channel will mobilize with guests on set and reports, notably offering a subject on high school students from the Grand-Est region who are involved in sides of Charlie Hebdo and the association Dessinez, Création, Liberté (DCL). Then from 10:50 a.m., Julian Bugier, accompanied by Nathalie Saint-Cricq, will take over for a special live broadcast in order to follow the commemorations of the 10th anniversary of the attacks of January 7 and 9, 2015.

Finally, France 2 will offer an evening dedicated to this news, entitled “Charlie Hebdo, 10 years later: can we still say everything?”. From the prestigious National Library of France, Caroline Roux will receive journalists and cartoonists from “Charlie Hebdo”, particularly those who experienced the attacks up close (Riss, Coco, Gérard Biard). Other guests, “terrorism specialists, to decipher the state of the threat today“, of the “teachers and students“on the question of secularism, and”comedians, artists, writers“(Jacques Weber, Sophia Aram, Philippe Caverivière) who”will question freedom of expression“, indicates the channel. This is the case of TF1 which is planning reports in its news from this weekend, and LCI which broadcast an in-house documentary, “Charlie Hebdo: they tell the horror”. On TMC and the TF1+ platform, Julien Bellver's show “21H Médias” will focus on these January 2015 attacks on Monday evening, “L'Horreur en France”. Finally, also on Monday, M6 will broaden the perspective to the other attacks of that year, in particular that of the Bataclan, with “What binds us”, a documentary broadcast during an evening presented by Thomas Sotto.
