As of 1is January 2025, you will have to have a badge to throw your waste into certain recycling centers in Ariège. Indeed, SMECTOM du Plantaurel is introducing a compulsory access card for the use of recycling centers and collective containers. Here's what you need to know to continue using these services.
Faced with the increase in waste and to improve its management, SMECTOM is setting up an access card system in part of the department. This new measure concerns the 7 SMECTOM du Plantaurel recycling centers and is accompanied by precise monitoring of the waste produced, with the aim of making users responsible while maintaining free recycling centers for individuals (under certain conditions). So, since this Wednesday 1is January, you must badge using this access card to throw away your waste in certain municipalities in Ariège.
Why badge to throw away your waste?
The map will thus make it possible to monitor visits to recycling centers and deposits in collective containers. This data will be used to calculate the variable part of the waste tax (TEOMi), encouraging residents to limit their waste production.. Only residents whose waste is collected by SMECTOM will be able to use these services. The card thus guarantees reserved access and optimal management of resources.
On a daily basis, for collective containers, only bags of 60 liters maximum are accepted. Users must avoid bags that are too bulky and respect the rules under penalty of sanctions. Individuals will then be able to make up to 18 annual visits to green waste depots.. Beyond that, additional charges will be applied according to a price list.
Residents must therefore complete a form, available online or at SMECTOM headquarters, and submit it along with the required documents. The form can be submitted in person or by mail.
For any loss, theft or malfunction of the card, users must contact the User Relations department by email or telephone to obtain a new one.
