It is in Chicoutimi-Nord that the work of patrollers has been concentrated in this area. First, a man in his thirties called 911 to report that a person was in danger in the area where he was.
Arriving on site, officers from the Saguenay Police Service (SPS) noted that there were no individuals whose lives were threatened in the area in question. However, law enforcement noticed that the driver who had given them false information showed symptoms of impaired driving.
The thirty-year-old was therefore apprehended by the authorities who were able to confirm that he had gotten behind the wheel while under the effects of drugs.
A road trip
Later in the night from Wednesday to Thursday, a young man in his twenties was caught in the act. Intoxicated by alcohol, the driver, according to information transmitted by the SPS, glided before ending his journey at the side of the road.
-The intervention of the police revealed that the young man had gotten behind the wheel with a blood alcohol level which exceeded three times the permitted limit.
At the start of the new year, the SPS wanted to remind the citizens of Saguenay that numerous roadside checks regarding drunk driving were planned throughout the territory, almost daily. An appeal to the good judgment of all was thus launched.
