Egypt’s food exports recorded an impressive 17% increase between January and November 2024, reaching $5.5 billion, compared to $4.7 billion during the same period in 2023, according to the Food Export Council (CEC). One of the main causes of this growth is the increase in exports to Morocco, which increased by 80%, highlighting the evolution of trade between the two countries.

Egyptian food exports mainly went to Arab countries, accounting for 53% of the total, followed by the European Union with 20%. Apart from Arab countries, exports to non-Arab African countries recorded 8%, and other international groups constituted 14% of exports. The United States, for their part, represented 5% of exports.

Saudi Arabia remains the largest importer of Egyptian foods, with exports of $434 million, followed by Sudan with $363 million. Yemen, for its part, is in tenth position with 175 million dollars in exports.

The main exported products are soft drink concentrates, flour and starch, frozen strawberries and sugar, worth $502 million, $428 million, $364 million and $357 million, respectively.

In 2024, Egypt’s food sector saw an 18% growth in exports, reaching $4.6 billion between January and October, compared to $3.9 billion during the same period in 2023. In the first half of 2024 , exports totaled $3.2 billion, an increase of 25% compared to 2023.
