Pop-up ice rinks are popular! Formerly reserved for large cities, we are seeing more and more of them in the countryside. Several municipalities in Haute-Vienne have chosen to install one during the Christmas holidays. You still have a few days left to enjoy it!

The pop-up Christmas ice rinks are small nomadic structures, completely artificial, entirely secure, which have the advantage of being easy to set up and quickly profitable for the municipalities.
We live 10, 15 kilometers away. It's a pleasure to take them, the little ones love it, I think we'll come back.

In Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche (Haute-Vienne), the municipality invested 10,000 euros and the ice rink attracts people throughout the holidays, as Laurent Goryl, deputy mayor, in charge of community life, explains: “Originally it was installed only for the Christmas market since we rented it, and given the rental price we decided to buy it, we have already amortized it. Every year we make it available to the Christmas market then throughout the holidays it is available to associations which manage the entry and which collect the revenue.
A double blow therefore, the inhabitants of Saint-Yrieix and the surrounding area are delighted and the associations too since the revenue goes directly to them. A welcome boost for Agnès Terrefond, secretary of the Nordic walking club: “The municipality makes the ice rink available, you just have to take the recipe. It's not a big job, it requires a little presence but it's pleasant, we see people, we see the children having fun , parents too.”

The covering is synthetic, from Monday January 6, the ice rink will be dismantled and stored pending further festivities.
Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche is not the only commune in Haute-Vienne to have chosen to offer a temporary ice rink, that of Peyrat-le Chateau is open until January 3, the one in Saint-Junien entertained young and old until December 28.
Looking forward to next Christmas!
