There was a lot of action yesterday in the NHL.
The Canadian won the first match in its history in regulation in Vegas (regular season)… But we were also watching Canada, which was taking on the American team at the World Junior Championship.
Here is a summary:
1: It’s starting to smell bad…
The Junior World Championship is always fun to follow.
That said, I don’t know if it’s just me… But this year, I’m having a hard time watching Canada’s games and staying calm. The club is not playing the right way!
Last night, the Canadian team competed against the Americans. And even though the guys performed relatively well, they were never able to take a lead in the match.
In the third period, when the score was 1-0 for the United States thanks to a goal from Cole Hutson, Bradly Nadeau scored to tie the game.
But in the end, we’re talking about Canada’s only moment of glory during the match:
I say this was Canada’s only moment of glory in the game because the United States took control of the game afterward.
Danny Nelson and Cole Eiserman scored in the space of seven minutes and we felt the end after the Islanders’ hopeful net:
Eiserman even took the liberty of taunting the Canadian bench…
That’s fun, the World Junior Championship!
At the end of the match, it was Ryan Leonard who secured the victory (4-1) for his club.
The United States captain scored into an empty net:
The Canadian team was undisciplined during the match. She finished the match with no less than 22 penalty minutes…
It’s way too much, especially against a club like the United States.
Canada therefore finished 3rd in its division and will face the Czech Republic in the quarter-finals.
It’s not over for the club, but it will have to get back on track if it wants to have the chance to win a medal…
2 : Connor Bedard s’excuse
It was the Winter Classic yesterday in Chicago.
The game was presented at the Cubs stadium (Wrigley Field)… But the Hawks did not show up.
The Chicago team lost the match by a score of 6-2 and was never in the game. Connor Bedard even had to apologize to fans because he felt bad:
When a player says that after a match like this, it’s because there is disappointment and frustration in the locker room.
However, the Hawks knew the opportunity to play well was there… Especially in the context of facing their long-time rivals.
The Blues won the match by a score of 6-2, and Cam Fowler stood out by scoring two goals in the match.
Note also that the Blues defender played his 1000th career game in the NHL. This is a great way to celebrate!
3: A celebration worth gold
It’s known: Elvis Merzlikins has quite a personality.
And we saw it last night, as the Blue Jackets beat the Hurricanes by a score of 4-3 in a shootout.
-After giving his team the victory with a save, the goalie decided to catapult the puck with his stick:
I don’t know where the puck fell… But let’s say that if it fell in the stands, it would make a great souvenir for a fan.
Kirill Marchenko helped his club win the match by scoring two goals and it was a feel-good victory for the Jackets.
The Columbus team has only four victories in its last ten outings.
4: Things are brewing between the Canucks and the Flames
There is a great rivalry between the Flames and the Canucks.
We are, after all, talking about two Canadian clubs that hate each other… And yesterday, we saw it again.
Things got mixed up in the second period:
Fights, punishments… At a certain point, the party was stuck in the penalty box so many people there were.
The following video made me laugh:
And when we look at the score sheet, we realize that it was completely crazy in the second half:
In all of this, let us note that it was the Flames who ultimately won the match by a score of 3-1.
Nazem Kadri scored his 14th goal of the season, and Jonathan Huberdeau scored into an empty net.
Note that the Quebecer has 16 goals on the clock since the start of the campaign. Things are going better for him this season.
5: A stop of the year for… Moritz Seider?
Usually, when we talk about the save of the year… It’s because a goalie made a spectacular play.
But here, the honors go to Moritz Seider, who really saved a goal by making a big save:
Wow !
The Wings defenseman is known as a reliable guy in all three zones of the ice, but maybe he should convert to goalie.
Hehe.
The stoppage was beneficial, moreover, since the Wings won the game by a score of 4-2 against the Penguins.
Patrick Kane scored his 7th goal of the season in his club’s victory.
Prolongation
– Beau but.
– Oh !
– Oops… Hehe.
