No fireworks for the New Year. In a decree published this Saturday, December 28, the prefecture prohibits the use of fireworks and firecrackers between December 30 at 8 p.m. and January 2 at 8 a.m. in the perimeter of South Corsica.
The State representative justifies this measure by “the risks of serious disturbances to public order caused by the multiplication of misused uses of certain fireworks, in particular against the police, vehicles and public property (…), particularly important on the occasion of the end of year celebrations and the transition to the new year”.
Purchase, transport and use prohibited
Is also invoked “the influx of people into hospital services, injured by pyrotechnic articles, in the context of high tension currently encountered by hospital establishments”.
As such, “the purchase, sale, transfer, for payment or not, the use, carrying and transport of fireworks and pyrotechnic articles of categories C1, F1, C2, F2, C3, F3, C4, F4, P1, P2, T1, and T2 are prohibited throughout the Corse-du-Sud department..
Haute-Corse is not affected by these measures.
