The Prime Minister will finally only go to Mayotte this Monday, January 30 instead of Sunday. He will spend a day on the island devastated by Cyclone Chido before returning to Reunion, explains Le Figaro. Matignon announced that the Prime Minister had “the desire to come up with concrete solutions for local populations on issues of education, health and housing”.

He will go the same evening to Reunion where François Bayrou must coordinate the airlift set up to supply the archipelago with food. He will be accompanied by Ministers of State Élisabeth Borne (Education) and Manuel Valls (Overseas) and Ministers Valérie Létard (Housing), Yannick Neuder (Health) and Thani Mohamed Soilihi (Francophonie and International Partnerships). Manuel Valls will continue his stay there.
The Prime Minister’s visit is eagerly awaited after the controversy sparked by his trip to the Pau Municipal Council just after his appointment. It was ultimately the head of state who was the first to travel to Mayotte where he extended his trip.
