Food prices increased by 0.8% in November, confirming the trend observed the previous month. This increase is explained by a sharp increase in fresh products (+2.4%) and a more moderate increase in food excluding fresh products (+0.4%). Over one year, food prices show an increase of 2.3% in Guadeloupe, compared to only 0.2% in France.
Recovery in prices of manufactured products
After a drop in October (-0.9%), the prices of manufactured products started to rise again in November (+0.2%). This development is mainly driven by the increase in prices of clothing and shoes (+2.1%) and other manufactured products (+0.3%). On the other hand, prices of health products fell by 1.3%. Over one year, the prices of manufactured products remain stable in Guadeloupe, while they record a drop of 0.3% at the national level.
Energy price stability
Energy prices remained stable in November, after falling 0.9% in October. This stability is explained by contrasting developments: a 6.0% increase in the price of a gas bottle, a 0.6% drop in the price of road diesel, and stagnation in the price of unleaded gasoline. Over one year, energy prices increased by 1.8% in Guadeloupe, while they decreased by 0.7% for the whole of France.
Increase in prices of services
Prices of services increased by 0.5% in November, after increasing by 0.2% in October. Health services (+0.8%), transport services (+0.7%) and other services (+0.7%) explain this trend. Conversely, prices of communications services fell slightly (-0.2%), while rents and related services remained stable. Over one year, the prices of services show an increase of 2.5% in Guadeloupe, compared to 2.3% in France.
Inflation above the national average
In summary, inflation in Guadeloupe, measured at 1.7% over one year, exceeds that observed in France. This situation is explained in particular by marked increases in the food and services sectors, while the prices of energy and manufactured products evolved more modestly.
