Updated yesterday at 7:55 p.m.

The accident, on Route 335, occurred around 11 a.m. in the Lake Brien area. A pickup truck traveling north collided head-on with a car traveling in the opposite direction. “One of the two vehicles deviated from its lane for a reason that remains to be determined,” indicates the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

The driver of the car, a 19-year-old man, died of his injuries after being taken to hospital. The one in the van, a man in his fifties, was seriously injured, but his life is not feared.

It is unknown what led to the impact. The roadway was not icy, but the area includes roads with curves, and the roadway was wet.

The SQ specifies that Route 335 was closed near the scene of the accident so that police officers could analyze the scene in order to understand the causes and circumstances of this tragedy. Traffic has been restored since 5 p.m.
