What is SAIP?
The SAIP is a set of tools (which include sirens) which allows the broadcasting of a signal or message by the authorities during an event of particular gravity or in a crisis situation (natural disaster or industrial, terrorist attack) to people who are likely to suffer its effects. Its triggering is the responsibility of the mayor and the prefect, or even the Ministry of the Interior.
The SAIP mobilizes several vectors of alert and information for the population such as sirens or the broadcasting of the alert to operators relaying this information with their own means (in particular variable message signs and radios).
