Behind the fences erected at the end of November around the former passenger building of the Invalides station in Paris, work on the future Giacometti Museum, which is due to open in 2028, has begun. The rehabilitation of this site, erected on the occasion of the Universal Exhibition of 1900, is part of the program of calls for urban projects « Reinventing Paris 2 » won by the real estate developers Emerige and Nexity, associated with the businessman Xavier Niel (individual shareholder of the Le Monde Group and the New Obs) through his company NJJ Project Five.
A priori, the project has everything to achieve consensus: 6,000 square meters, in the heart of the capital, to present the collection of the Alberto and Annette Giacometti Foundation, rich in some 10,000 rarely shown works. But also a school of artistic practices, a bookstore and a catering offer.
