A family argument that borders on tragedy. A 29-year-old man, shot in the face and neck, was urgently hospitalized on the night of Tuesday December 24 to Wednesday December 25, 2024 in Héric (Loire-Atlantique), north of Nantes, reports West France.
The events occurred around 4 a.m. While the victim was sharing a well-watered Christmas dinner with his partner and his in-laws, things got out of hand. It was his partner who took him to the Nantes University Hospital where the man was taken care of. The hospital reported the facts to the gendarmerie, who opened an investigation into attempted murder.
The suspect surrenders to the police
The next morning, the victim's father-in-law, aged 53, presented himself to the police, admitting that he was the perpetrator of the shooting. He was taken into police custody, but could not immediately be interviewed by investigators because of his blood alcohol level, specifies Le Figaro.
The fifty-year-old delivered to the gendarmes several handguns and hunting weapons that he had at home. During a search organized on Wednesday, other weapons were seized by the military. The investigation continues and the lead of a family dispute which degenerates against a background of alcohol is for the moment favored.
