Economy, politics, community life, sport… Maine-et- and more particularly the territory of Durtal has been marked by many facts in 2024. We have selected the six major news stories from the last twelve months.

1- Rivard change de dimension

Established since 1952 in Daumeray, the Rivard company is about to change size with an investment of around 20 million euros on his site. As a reminder, this structure specializes in the construction and bodywork of equipment and services for sanitation and public works.

French leader in this field and with a turnover of 50 million euros, Rivard is thinking bigger for the years to come by modernizing and extending the site. The first stone will be laid in 2025, and the new building, which will be energy self-sufficient, will be operational in

2026.

2- Durtal town hall criticized on the networks

A Durtal, an independent expression group scratched the municipal team via social networks. The latter protests against a “perfect line of non-communication from Pascal Farion and his team” pushing for “disinterest and exclusion of the population of Durtal”.

Faced with the criticism coming “from a minority of Durtal residents”, the town hall has decided to advocate silence. “On the networks, we don’t want to get into a game of ping-pong,” assures Stéphanie Gohier, 1st deputy mayor. We don’t want to stir things up. So, in this context, silence is a solution. »

3- The Morannes-Daumeray demerger will not take place

Committed during 2020, the demerger of the new commune of Morannes-sur--Daumeray will not see the light of dayafter the investigation procedure has been stopped by the Prefect. Faced with the cancellation of the demerger procedure, the “Return to autonomy” collective calls into question its neutrality, notably with “a botched public inquiry”. If the merger seems almost confirmed, the subject will always float above the new municipality.

4- Durtal’s multidisciplinary house is moving forward

The multidisciplinary health center is one of the most important files of the current mandate at Durtal. This should emerge from the ground near the former Lidl at the end of 2026. On a surface area of 960m2 on two levels, there will be “6 more cabinets”. “We can already ensure that they will be occupied,” confides the town hall. Nurses, psychologists, podiatrists, physiotherapists, dentists, general practitioners… a large number of health professionals will be represented.

5- Eliott becomes world champion

At 24, Eliott Martineau, originally from Durtal, became Savate French Boxing world championon October 12, 2024, in Slovenia. Before arriving on the roof of the world, the 24-year-old young man got down on one knee: “I had many failures. I didn’t see a favorable outcome. I had lost confidence in myself and the hope of winning titles, so I decided to cut out competition completely between 2019 and 2021.” A decision that led her to success.

6- The bells of Morannes are stopped

While the Morannes church has been closed to the public since April 2023, its bells stopped ringing at the beginning of November. “During the night, part of one of the four columns located at the bell tower gave way. If the part that fell fell on the roof of the church, we were forced to stop the bells. The repeated heavy vibrations could be the cause of this deterioration,” explains Jean-Marie Cardoën, the mayor of the town. Even today, the bells no longer ring.
