DECRYPTION – The traces on the cabin and the trajectory of the airliner which left Baku, Azerbaijan, towards Chechnya, and which crashed after an emergency landing on Wednesday, converge on the version of the Russian anti-aircraft defense shot. The authorities remain evasive.
Will we one day know what happened this Wednesday to the 67 passengers of Azerbaijan Airlines flight J2-8243 bound for Grozny in Chechnya? Images of the tragic accident, which occurred on Christmas morning, went viral on social networks. We see the passengers – 37 Azerbaijanis, 16 Russians, six Kazakhs and three Kyrgyz – worried, their faces covered with an oxygen mask. Some say prayers, others moan, voices call for calm. These images, filmed by a passenger a few minutes before the Embraer 190 suffered a forced landing and crashed in Kazakhstan, were followed by others showing the carcass of the plane riddled with holes, and rescuers extracting the bodies, for some calcined.
What happened? From the first hours, hypotheses arose. The regional department of the Kazakh Ministry of Health mentioned a “oxygen tank explosion” on board. But the first images show multiple holes on the cabin…
