For the second year, the city collected requests from residents. The latter had until December 9 to make proposals.
Between October 1 and December 8, Lyonnais submitted 1,149 projects as part of the second edition of the participatory budget organized by the city.
These proposals, which are listed on the Oyé platform, are already attracting a certain amount of interest. Like the restoration of the basketball court at the Albert-Camus school, in the 5th arrondissement, or the plan for greening and securing the streets in the new Girondins district (7th arrondissement).
For his part, a resident imagines the creation of a large park in the 8th arrondissement, on the Givaudan-Lavirotte wasteland. Positive opinions were also given to a project to transform the internal courtyard of the Grand'Côte social center and the Pent'à Gône nursery into a multifunctional green space.
Other more crazy proposals make the Lyonnais react, like the “Tobo Jean”. Behind this mysterious name hides the installation of a large slide from the rise of Chemin-Neuf to rue Tramassac, at the height of the stele commemorating the Saint-Jean disaster.
“The project seems rather funny to me”
“It would be good, it would be fun. And then it would be quicker because we counted, there are 250 steps, that’s a bit stingy,” smiles Alex at the microphone of BFM Lyon. “Really, if there really is a slide and it's not too dangerous, we can go down. It's possible that one day I'll take it. The project seems rather funny to me” , reacts Thomas.
Another resident's wish: an aerial walkway in the arboretum of the Tête d'Or park. “This park is a real breath of fresh air for the city so if we can improve it and make it even more beautiful and close to nature, that’s something that I could like,” considers Cécile.
“I think it could be good, we have a different height. I think it can only be better and then we are protected by everything else as a pedestrian so it's a good idea”, adds Irène, a resident of Pierre-Bénite. But the idea does not convince Alain. “It's a bit, let's say, superficial and not of huge interest. I think there are other things to do first to make life better for some people.”
These proposals are now under study (technical and legal feasibility, cost, etc.) and will be put to the vote from May 5. Lyon allocated 12.5 million euros to projects popular with the public.
For several months, the projects carried out by the winners of the first edition of Lyon's participatory budget have been coming to fruition, such as lighting adapted according to the time of day in Old Lyon or the future shade houses on Place Bellecour.
