On Christmas Day, the EstLink 2 direct current link between Finland and Estonia was disconnected from the network, Finnish operator Fingrid announced.

Questioned by the Finnish media Yle, Arto Pahkin, head of operations at Fingrid, estimated that “the possibility of sabotage could not be excluded”. An investigation into the incident was immediately launched. The disturbance was localized on Thursday, according to Fingrid.
The Finns' electricity supply was not affected.
“We followed the situation closely yesterday” with Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, the Finnish president said on X.
