Before starting his famous tour of gifts, Santa Claus took a break at the Poitiers Christmas market this Tuesday, to the delight of visitors. Young and old were able to chat with him, ask their questions and immortalize the moment.
A special moment for children
According to France Bleu, barely installed, Santa Claus is quickly surrounded by curious children. A 6-year-old boy, intrigued, dares to ask if he is the real one. With a mischievous smile, he replies, “If it’s not me, who do you want it to be?” » The exchange sparks laughter and lightens the atmosphere. Sophie, 7 years old, observes attentively and notices the “big jacket” and the “beautiful boots” of the legendary character.
Santa's secrets revealed
Between two photos, Santa reveals some secrets about his equipment. He explains that he has a horn to call his reindeer, a compass to stay on the right path and above all a magic key which allows him to enter all the houses. “That’s what kids often ask me. They want to know how I get in if there’s no chimney,” he explains with a reassuring wink.
A multilingual meeting
As a group of Spaniards approaches, Santa Claus speaks with them in their language. He likes to point out that he speaks several languages, including sign language. “It’s important to be able to talk to everyone,” he adds.
Adults also under the spell
Grown-ups don't shy away from their pleasure. Some willingly take part in the photo game, bringing back childhood memories. “It’s been years since I’ve done that,” enthuses Marie, 46 years old. Santa Claus emphasizes that his mission also affects adults. “I’ve known the grandparents since they were kids! It’s a loop that repeats itself,” he confides.
Significant encounters
Every December, Santa Claus experiences great moments. Some children run towards him with enthusiasm, others hesitate or cry, impressed by this emblematic figure. However, he knows how to reassure them gently, a joke or a smile often enough to dispel their fears.
He remembers a particularly moving encounter the previous year. A Ukrainian woman, marked by distance from her family, confided her sorrows to him. “I spoke to her in simple words, but she left with a little more serenity,” he remembers.
A dream job
When the question of fatigue is asked, Santa Claus responds without hesitation: “No, it’s the best job in the world. » His visit to the Christmas market leaves behind smiles, memories and a magical atmosphere. For his part, he is preparing to hit the road again to accomplish his great nocturnal mission.
