Two teenage girls discovered this Monday, December 23, a bag of rat poison in a box of popcorn at the CGR cinema in Sarcelles. A complaint has been filed.
A worrying discovery in Sarcelles (Val-d'Oise). A teenager, who came to see a film with a friend at the CGR cinema, found this Monday, December 23, a bag of rat poison in her box of popcorn purchased in the establishment, reports Le Parisien.
According to our colleagues, they had eaten half the box of popcorn and complained of stomach aches and nausea. They alerted the cinema security staff and the establishment was evacuated by the police. No other bags were found.
A complaint filed
Patrick Haddad, mayor (PS) of Sarcelles, returns to the facts. “The bag that these young girls discovered was closed, so there was little risk that they had consumed it, but they were transported to hospital as a precaution,” he indicates to our colleagues.
However, the councilor does not understand how the bag could have ended up in the popcorn box. However, it indicates: “The establishment's entire stock of popcorn was taken out to be checked and then destroyed. No other bags of poison were discovered there.”
For his part, the cinema director told Le Parisien that he had bought bags of rat poison to put an end to a mouse problem. An investigation is underway to determine how one of them ended up in a popcorn box.
One of the victims filed a complaint for unintentional injuries.
