Comfortably seated by a fireplace on television, a cat purring on your lap, Alexandre Davail savor the moment.
In 48 hours it will open the first cat bar in Vendée, The Chalet.
The culmination of more than a year's work for this 25-year-old young man, a graduate of Notre-Dame du Roc high school in hotel and catering industry and passed through the sector of car sales.
In the former premises of the Happy Cash store, located at Place du Théâtre, this jack of all trades has completely transformed the 120 m premises2shaping the place in his image.
“I wanted a warm, pleasant place, where you feel at home by the fire, with classy and clear materials,” emphasizes the young man, who bought the walls of his establishment.
I only worked with local artisans for this project.
Four to five cats, offered for adoption
An animal lover since his nomadic childhood spent between his parents, from Tahiti to Reunion, via Biarritz and Vendée, the Bordeaux native wanted to bring this original concept imported from Japan to La Roche-sur-Yon.
Except for a few details.
I reworked the tea room concept by expanding it to make it an innovative and hyper-ethical project.
In his cat bar, the furballs are all available for adoptionvia the association Le coeur sur la patte 85 to which the animals belong.
“There will never be more than four or five cats in the room, and everything has been designed for their well-being,” emphasizes Alexandre Davail.
A room with a cat and another without a cat
Toys, high paths and a cat tree adorn the large 40 m glass room2 of the Chalet. A hidden room where the animals' litter boxes are located makes it possible to channel odors.
An IV license
For those who prefer cats from afar, a second bar area with a high bar or small lounge allows customers to have a view of the cats while avoiding contact. Finally, Alexandre Davail obtained an IV license for its bar, which will serve wines, beers, spirits in addition to traditional teas, coffee or chocolate.
Of the charcuterie boards and pastries from Labo and My Cookies complete the map.
Le Chalet cat bar, opening Thursday December 26, 2024. The establishment will initially be open from Wednesday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
