“I made the tourists believe they were landing at the wrong airport! » It is with the message “Welcome to  »written with large tarpaulins placed on a field, that a videographer accustomed to hoaxes wanted to trap the passengers of the planes which were landing… at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle !

A joke which is the work of Théo Audace, followed by more than a million people on the social network TikTok, based on an idea already created by an English YouTuber, Max Fosh, who wrote “Welcome to Luton” for him. near Gatwick Airport in 2022.

“It was still very funny”

“We said to ourselves that writing ‘Welcome to Beauvais’ next to Charles de Gaulle was still very funny,” says the city councilor in his video retracing this joke, viewed almost two million times on social networks.

You will have understood, he wanted to make travelers believe that they were landing in the Oise, and not on the largest airport platform in Europe, the two sites being approximately 70 km apart.

After obtaining the agreement of the owner of the plot, Théo Audace worked on the design of the letters, measuring 8 by 3 meters, by cutting large tarpaulins.

The message visible from the sky

“After eight hours of cutting in all directions, we finally had all the letters prepared,” laughs the man who is known for having made a live appearance on the TPMP show, wanting to trap Cyril Hanouna.

It was necessary to check that the message was clearly visible from the sky. So we made a round trip to Spain and indeed, we saw it!

“And then it exploded on the internet,” he boasts. Indeed, the photos of his joke visible from the air had been shared in large numbers on social networks, without its origin being known. A cliché that made many Internet users react.

It was only on December 14 that Théo Audace published the video of this “prank” on TikTok and Instagram to make his work official.

A hoax which cost him 5,000 euros and took “two months of work”. “Clearly the most expensive joke of our career,” he quips.
