Only one of these localities asked not to control: Evere. “On my proposal, the college decided to renew the operation launched a few years ago by Ridouane Chahid to make parking free in Evere on December 24 and 31.”confirms alderman David Cordonnier (PS). In the eleven other aforementioned entities managed by parking.brussels, parking will in theory be controlled and you can therefore be fined if you do not pay for your parking or do not respect the blue disc deadlines.
New Year in Brussels: this is who will be the “gold commander”
Sometimes until 9 p.m.
In other municipalities where parking is managed internally without recourse to parking.brussels, the situation varies. These Tuesdays 24 and 31 will be days like any other and it will therefore be necessary to power the parking meters in Brussels, Uccle and Woluwe-Saint-Pierre. But times vary. In Uccle and Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, parking (outside the blue zone) is chargeable until 6 p.m. (or rather 5:45 p.m., given the free quarter of an hour). In Brussels City, on the other hand, parking is payable until 9 p.m. Same in Molenbeek and in certain places in Schaerbeek and Ixelles in particular.
In Etterbeek, on the other hand, parking is free from December 20 until January 1 in the shopping areas (Chasse, Escadron, Tervaete, Tongres, Jourdan), but the blue disc remains in application. Also free for New Year's Eve in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert (except for the area around the Woluwe Shopping Center).
In Auderghem, no parking meter but the blue zone remains in effect until 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve. This is also the case in Ganshoren and Berchem. Ganshoren alderman Quentin Paelinck gives a legal tip: “A guest who plays their disc on December 24 at 6 p.m. is covered until December 26 in the morning. Same from December 31, 6 p.m. until January 2.“In addition, the Sanpétrusian alderman Georges Dallemagne (LE) recalls the existence of “visitor cards” at the price of 3€, which citizens can acquire to park a guest's vehicle for a day. A system which also exists in other entities.
Free and more drivers on the STIB network for New Year's Eve
For Saint-Josse, we did not receive a response. But last year, no exceptional measures applied for New Year's Eve and nothing has recently been communicated.
In summary, even if we suspect that the intensity of controls should be reduced, the parking rules remain in theory in force on December 24 and 31 in the Brussels Region: guests will therefore have to pay for their parking like any other. other day of the week, or respect the deadlines on the blue disc to be sure not to be fined. Exceptions: the municipalities of Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, Evere and Etterbeek which apply free admission for New Year's Eve (with sometimes exceptions).
