“I'm not a hero. If there is a hero in this story, it’s Mistral.” Mistral is a nine-year-old Golden retriever. And its story, told by France Bleu Périgord, is like a Christmas story for its neighbors.
On December 18, the dog may have saved the life of Dominique, a neighbor, in Les Lèches, a town in Dordogne. After feeling unwell, this lady found herself balancing on a low wall overlooking the road, unable to get back on her feet. “So I said to myself: don’t move anymore, and call you, call you, call you,” she explains on the radio.
“Mistral deserves a medal”
Problem is, her companion Joël, sound asleep due to medical treatment, did not hear her. No more than the closest neighbors, who were absent that evening. It was ultimately the other neighbors' dog that managed to save this lady in bad shape.
When his owner returned from work, the dog initially refused to follow him inside the house, barking. Before, finally, going back but continuing to bark. Realizing that there was a problem, his master came out and heard the neighbor screaming.

“Mistral and her master are truly angels,” smiles the neighbor. Avent concludes, happy to be able to celebrate Christmas after having had the fear of her life: “Mistral deserves a medal”.
