Thursday December 19, 2024, a distribution of around twenty computers was organized at the solidarity grocery store Le Local, located 16, rue Saint-Pierre-le-Puellier in Poitiers. It is within the framework of the digital plan, for which François Serret is responsible for the City of Poitiers, that this distribution could be carried out.
This year 450 computers, donated by different organizations to the City of Poitiers, were reconditioned via the Papiole association which employs people in rehabilitation. As a general rule, however, conditions for granting computers are required. “Priority is given to families with unequipped school children, to job seekers or those in reintegration, to families followed by a social worker and finally to students”explains François Serret.
These computers were then redistributed to different associations including the Local. Margot Richard, manager of this grocery store, is responsible for distributing them to the association's members. “The beneficiaries and even the volunteers are very happy with this distribution, especially for people who cannot afford equipment, who have children and who need to do research on the Internet”specifies Margot Richard. “Regarding the Local, the computers are given mainly to families who are members of the grocery store who need to equip themselves and who have little income”indicates Jean-Michel Pelhâtre, communications manager and digital presenter at Le Local.
