This Saturday, the Tours FC (R1) was to host FC Lorient (L2) within the framework of 32^e final of the Coupe de France. A meeting canceled a few hours before kick-off for security reasons.

” The prefecture of Indre et Loire and the town hall of Tours found that FC Tours was not not able to put in place a system to guarantee that the match will take place in terms of public reception. Consequently, the decision was taken in consultation with the stakeholders to cancel the meeting,” explained the French Football Federation in a press release.

“We are deeply sorry”

“The entire club and I are deeply sorry for the cancellation of the Coupe de France match scheduled for today against Lorient. We realize how essential this match was for everyone and the state of dissatisfaction that is yours” wrote Ivan Desmetpresident and owner of Tours FC on the club's official website.

A meeting this Monday

“We will later shed light on what was missing to organize this match. We can simply inform you that we have entered into a contract with a private security company and that all funds were ordered by transfer before the meeting as required by the service provider,” adds the president of Tours FC.

The Organizing Commission of the Coupe de France will examine the follow-up to be given this Monday.
