The Albatross held out for two thirds against the Remparts de Tours before giving in during a final period which saw the Tourangeaux score three goals.
If they benefited from the first superiority of the meeting in the first moments, the Brestois did not benefit from it. The Tourangeaux did not do more in the same situation, despite the intense pressure they exerted on the goals guarded by Duquenne. The local goalkeeper, however, had to lose a little later on a close shot from Mallais (0-1). Touraine's superiority grew as the minutes passed. It resulted in a significantly higher number of throws for the Remparts. Fortunately for Brest, this domination was hardly conclusive. For now…
Brest resists but ends up giving up
The persistence of the Finisterians in defense would find its counterpart on the offensive level. It was the visitors' turn to suffer in the face of Brest's onslaught. A dazzling surge from Motreff, who appeared alone in front of Raibon, ended with an equalizing goal (1-1). Unfortunately, Tours, with its offensive armada, found a way to curb Brest's enthusiasm one minute before the second break through Gibbons (1-2).
And even more so when, in the first minutes of the third act, Tartari sent the puck into Duquenne's cage again (1-3). Tours further increased its pressure and, in the melee, Fournier managed to score again (1-4). From then on, the cause was heard and Brest logically bowed to the Tourangeaux, not without conceding an additional goal from MAIS (1-5).
