In most Atlantic provinces, a carpet of snow should be present on the ground to celebrate Christmas. On the other hand, the expected rain in Saint-John's (Newfoundland) and mild temperatures in the eastern tip of Nova Scotia could overcome the accumulations of recent weeks.

    • Quebec and Ontario

In Quebec and Ontario, “the chances are very good” in the majority of regions, indicates Environment Canada (EC) meteorologist Gregory Yiang. Around ten cm of snow could be added in the south of the two provinces from the night of December 23 to 24. However, it is more “uncertain” in the southernmost part of the Great Lakes region.

    • Calgarians woke up to a blanket of snow and temperatures of -10°C on October 22, 2024.

In the Prairies, a “good white carpet” has already set in in recent weeks, adds the EC meteorologist, but the above-freezing temperatures expected in southern Alberta could cause it to melt in these sectors.

In the Vancouver Island region, gifts will be unwrapped in the rain. On the other hand, when we head at altitude towards the Rockies, the chances of a white Christmas “are good” concludes the EC meteorologist.
