Two suspects were arrested at an event in Hasselt after using pepper spray to rob partygoers. Around forty people were inconvenienced, but the evening continued.
Two suspects were arrested overnight from Friday to Saturday by local police in the Limburg Regio Hoofstad (LRH) area after spraying partygoers with pepper spray in order to steal various objects. This took place during the Extrema Nord event, a party held at the Trixxo Arena in Hasselt, Limburg.
Two incidents with pepper spray occurred during the evening, reported Lomme Valkeneers, a member of the event organization. A first incident occurred shortly before midnight. Several people used the spray on partygoers and took advantage of the confusion to try to rob spectators.
The second incident took place almost 45 minutes later. The police were then able to arrest two people.
“Around forty people went to the first aid station to rinse their irritated eyes. The rooms were subsequently ventilated as much as possible, after which the party could continue. The music never stopped”explained Lomme Valkeneers.
The stolen items, however, could not be found. Anyone who has been the victim of theft can report it to the organization.
The event, organized over two days, attracted nearly 6,000 people on Friday evening. The organization assures that all people will be checked even more carefully on Saturday evening.
