The vacation begins with a few hours of hassle for some motorists. During the night of this Friday to Saturday December 21, 2024, a truck had an accident on the A31 motorway, in the Robécourt sector in the Vosges. The events occurred a little before 4 a.m., in the Toul-Dijon direction, causing traffic disruptions until the morning.
The truck was transporting 150 pigs in a three-story trailer. Around forty pigs escaped, others died or found themselves trapped in the accident.
The truck driver was not injured, indicates the Vosges Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS88). But the particularity of this intervention requires the mobilization of numerous firefighters, including animal rescue specialists.
The A31 motorway was partly cut following the accident. Around noon this Saturday, there were still several kilometers of traffic jams. Some motorists were stuck in traffic jams for almost 6 hours.
The Vosges prefecture initially indicated that “traffic is blocked between interchanges 8.1 (Robécourt) and 8 (Montigny-le-Roy)”. Then at midday, the prefecture added that the perimeter was widened.between interchanges 9 and 8 (Luxembourg-Beaune) from 10:30 a.m.. Diversions are in place. The return to normal should occur around 2:30 p.m., specifies the Vosges prefecture. In the meantime, she advises motorists who can to avoid the area.
