The Vauvert high school in organized a collection for Secours populaire

During this end-of-year period, solidarity is being organized in the Cher. Last Thursday, Secours populaire went to Vauvert high school to collect gifts from a collection. “We have been doing a collection for four years, we invite students and staff to bring new objects. It could be a warm accessory, a treat, a hygiene product, or a leisure object. In addition, we proposed the idea of adding a little greeting,” explains Megane Gatien, education assistant. Nearly 70 boxes were collected and given to Secours populaire. An idea that was born from the principal education advisor, Emna Saidi. “In my old establishment, we already did it. So, when I arrived, I contacted the association. And the high school life council quickly got involved. Every year, we see that there is more and more participation. They go to classes, we also send text messages, and we have a stand in the hall. »

Need volunteers

Last Thursday, the students of the high school life council gathered for the official presentation. For Jean-Marie Jacquelin, departmental secretary of Secours populaire, this is an opportunity to come and raise awareness.

“We come to talk about Secours populaire, about precariousness. But we also talk about volunteering. Because you should know that you can be a volunteer even before the age of 18, with parental consent. And for us, it’s important to have young people. They bring new things, ideas, and they are proactive. »

Vauvert high school is not the only establishment to organize collections. Secours populaire can count on other colleges or high schools in the department to collect as many products as possible and offer them to people in need. “We can count on the solidarity of everyone,” adds Jean-Marie Jacquelin.
