The residents of Aubagne were to gather this Sunday, at 7 p.m., to watch the Christmas fireworks organized by the City. That was without counting on the surprise guest, the wind.
While gusts have been sweeping Provence since Friday, the weather forecasts still predict unfavorable conditions this weekend. The Aubagnaise municipality therefore made the decision this Friday not to give the green light to the fireworks. She announced her decision on her Facebook page.
A post which does not fail to make Internet users react, disappointed for some, annoyed for others.
But it's only a postponement, the fireworks show has been postponed to Saturday March 1, 2025. Just a little more patience…
The other animations are, for the time being, maintained. Everyone can enjoy the other activities planned for this Sunday, December 22. From 2 p.m., flamenco dance performances by the Aire Andaluz association and country dance performances by Atyik South Country Dancers will liven up the streets.
Other local associations, such as Backstage and Instant Dance, will offer performances at different locations, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. A Latino Christmas snack will delight young and old on Place Joseph-Rau from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
At 5:30 p.m., the Santa Claus parade will begin on Avenue Antide-Boyer with more than 50 artists in colorful costumes and luminous floats. This magical procession will continue on the Cours Foch and end in style on the Esplanade De-Gaulle.
The day will conclude with a large fireworks display at 7 p.m. at the Lattre stadium, offering a light show lasting more than 20 minutes.
Christmas market all weekend
Without forgetting, Saturday and Sunday, the Christmas market for Aubagne traders.
Meet for your last holiday purchases in Rastègue and Martinot streets. From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., local artisans and merchants offer activities for young and old, with creative workshops, gourmet specialties to taste, and Christmas decorations to admire. A varied choice of original gifts will also be available to discover, all accompanied by Christmas carols for a warm and friendly atmosphere.
