A suspicious package was abandoned on the Quai desUnis and firecrackers were sent to the management of the Masséna high school; these two alerts are a priori unrelated. They caused disruptions while the deminers intervened.

The deminers did not come out for nothing this Friday, the eve of the Christmas holidays.
At the beginning of the afternoon, almost at the same time, two suspicious package alerts, separate alerts, required their intervention.
One of them started from the presence of luggage found on the public highway on the Quai desUnis at Les Ponchettes, the other was given after the receipt of a letter deemed suspicious by the high school principal Massena.
Big traffic jam around 2 p.m. on the Quai desUnis in Nice. Traffic was completely interrupted and a security perimeter set up after the discovery of two abandoned packages near Ponchettes. It is precisely a backpack and a suitcase.
The deminers called to the scene destroyed the two pieces of luggage which exploded around 2:15 p.m.
Almost at the same time, the principal of the Masséna high school for his part raised the alarm, after receiving a suspicious letter.
This envelope, addressed to his deputy, contained firecrackers and a note indicating “this is for you”.
As a precautionary measure, all students and teachers were evacuated outside the establishment while the bomb squad checked that the package was not dangerous as it was.
If the two places are only a few hundred meters apart, there is nothing to establish a link between these two alerts for the moment.
