Philippe Cochet appealed
As a reminder, Philippe Cochet was sentenced on December 11 by the 11th chamber of the Paris Criminal Court to five years of ineligibility, with provisional execution, and three years of imprisonment including one year closed, for embezzlement of public funds.
His wife, Laetitia Cochet, was found guilty of complicity and concealment of embezzlement of public funds as well as social fraud. The national financial prosecutor’s office had decided to prosecute the LR mayor of Caluire and former deputy of Rhône (2002-2017) for having employed his wife as a parliamentary attaché during his election to the National Assembly in 2002. A job that justice considered fictitious. The former parliamentarian appealed this decision, an appeal which does not suspend his sentence of ineligibility, pronounced with provisional execution.
In a press release released a few hours after the conviction of Philippe Cochet, the Caluirard opposition groups asked “the resignation of the municipal majority, which, in solidarity, united behind Philippe Cochet“.
