Dakar, Dec 20 (APS) – The local national football team, defending champion of the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN), challenges Liberia, Sunday in Monrovia, during the first leg of the qualifying play-offs for the edition 2025 of this competition, scheduled from February 1 to 28 in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
Exempted from the first round, the local Lions must make a good trip to Monrovia.
Arriving Thursday evening in the Liberian capital, the reigning champions have been in preparation for more than two months, but have not played any international friendly matches during their preparation.
The new coach of the national team Souleymane Diallo, who is having his baptism of fire, was pleased with the good preparation of his team.
At home, the Liberians should try to put in a good performance in front of their home crowd.
Liberia has summoned most of its national A team players.
The two teams know each other well and had already crossed paths during the CHAN 2023 qualifiers.
After a victory (3-0) in Monrovia, the local Lions were beaten (1-2) by Liberia.
A Malian referee trio (Ousmane Diakaté, Baba Yomboliba and Souleymane Traoré) will officiate the match at the SKD stadium in Monrovia.
