In a forum, Artists, programmers of shows for young audiences and representatives of local authorities, coming from all over France on the occasion of the Cornouaillais Theater at All Ages festival and gathered within the association Scènes d’enfance Assitej France, have expressed their concern “about the endangerment of cultural policies and, therefore, the future of youth”, in Quimper. They broadcast a column written on the occasion of the professional days that the festival also covers. Here it is.
“Ideological choices of incredible violence and irresponsibility”
“We, artists and creative professionals for children and youth, gathered in Quimper on the occasion of the Theater at All Ages festival, in the presence and with the affirmed support of the City of Quimper, are launching an appeal to cultural actors, to elected officials from all territories, to journalists, to citizens. »
We refuse the project of destruction of public services, social, environmental, educational and cultural policies, which all play a fundamental role in the future of youth
“We refuse the project of destruction of public services, social, environmental, educational and cultural policies, which all play a fundamental role in the future of youth.
Following the finance law passed by the government, communities are seeing their budgets cut. Certain elected officials, particularly in the Pays de la Loire region, are openly taking advantage of this economic context to assert ideological choices of incredible violence and irresponsibility.”
A danger for thousands of jobs
“The upcoming social plan puts thousands of jobs at risk. Culture is not a skill, it is a fundamental right. These policies take away this right from our children and adolescents. »
We refuse this model of society which buries our rights and our public services and take a firm stand with all those affected by these arbitrary measures.
“We refuse this model of society which buries our rights and our public services and take a firm stand with all those – professionals, families, elected officials, associations – who are affected by these arbitrary measures.
We join all the ongoing struggles in the sectors of youth, education, social, sport and everything that links us in our society. It is more necessary than ever to take care of young people. This is our fundamental project.
We are launching this appeal as a spark, may it ignite many others throughout the territories.
It’s up to all of us to take hold of it, let’s remain mobilized and united. »
