Thursday evening, the community council discussed ways to save money, without going into detail. These should be decided for the budget vote in February. The community explains that it is seeking to reduce operating expenses by 1 to 2 million. Internally, each department reported the cuts it would be able to make. Budget line by budget line, they proposed 2.5 million euros in savings, including 1.173 million within the mobility service.
A proposal that Anne Gallo-Kerleau was moved by this Thursday evening at a community council meeting. “How can this amount be explained? Does this mean that operating costs are currently much too high? What impact could these reductions in charges have on internal operations and on the service provided to the public? These reductions in operating costs are a worrying signal, at a time when Kicéo strikers are denouncing crossing times that are impossible to respect and leading to the cancellation of stops, where users are deploring very significant delays. »
What future for free shuttles?
Buses are not the only transport service provided by the Agglo. The mobility service also covers cycling, smuggler and carpooling skills. Either the dedicated areas, but also the Blablacar daily service, which encourages users to turn to this type of mobility, by paying the drivers. A service for which, according to elected officials, the community subsidy would be in the hot seat: “I know that Blablacar daily is being eliminated,” even underlined the mayor of Saint-Avé. Initially launched in 2023 and revised last May, the service was to benefit from €320,000 for 2025. It then recorded, on average, 7,000 journeys per month.
“Nothing has been done,” recalled David Robo, the president of the Agglomeration. For his part, he raises the possibility of eliminating free shuttles to major events.
