The municipal debt fell by €6 million, and an operating surplus of €72.7 million was achieved, while maintaining low taxation. For the 11th consecutive year, Cannes Town Hall, under the leadership of David Lisnard, is continuing rigorous management praised by the Regional Chamber of Auditors in 2018 and 2023.
Despite the uncertainty linked to the rejection of the 2025 finance bill, the strategy of “beneficial rigor” remains a priority to protect taxpayers and prepare for the future, by strengthening the City’s exemplary financial trajectory.
The budget of Cannes Town Hall – Find out
“Fortunately, municipalities provide local public services and demonstrate, through their concrete and innovative action, that the local level provides solutions and efficiency for the country. From the security of the French to international solidarity, including risk management and support for people with disabilities, to name just a few examples, nothing would be possible in France without the daily commitment of municipalities and mayors. . For the first time since the decentralization laws of 1983, local authorities must construct their budget without knowing the provisions of the finance law likely to be applied to them.
Faced with this unacceptable uncertainty, while the State’s decisions in the draft budget were expected to weigh €7.5 million on municipal finances, the Cannes Town Hall maintained its rigorous and virtuous financial trajectory in 2024. It will continue it in 2025, in compliance with its cardinal principles of “beneficial rigor” and prudence. So, whatever happens – dissolution of the National Assembly, censorship of the government and the draft budget, persistent inflation or even a global health crisis – no hazard deviates Cannes from its budgetary strategy and public performance. This responsible policy responds to several challenges: defending taxpayers, supporting the most vulnerable, improving the quality of public service, investing in the attractiveness and competitiveness of the municipality, and protecting future generations. »
