Morocco is the guest of honor at the 18th edition of the Al Burda Prize, celebrating the Kingdom’s remarkable contributions to Islamic culture and arts.

During a ceremony organized recently at the Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum, in the presence of Moroccan officials from the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, eminent personalities from the world of arts, culture and diplomacy, the Focus was placed on the life of Prophet Sidna Mohammed through the concept of light (An-Nur). The designation of Morocco as guest of honor was an opportunity to illustrate the growth of Islamic arts in the Kingdom, where Andalusian, Arab and Amazigh influences blend to form a unique fabric of its kind.

This event, enhanced by the presence of the Emirati Minister of Culture, Sheikh Salem bin Khalid Al Qassimi, and the Moroccan Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Ahmed Tazi, was marked by the presentation of the Al Burda Prize in its different categories (poetry, calligraphy, etc.). Thus, the School of Arts and Crafts of Tetouan received an honorary distinction in recognition of its exemplary role in the preservation of authentic Islamic arts, embodying the cultural heritage shared between Morocco and Andalusia, while the Moroccan poet Yassine Hazkar won the Classical Poetry Prize.
